Rules on spearfishing in Malta:
1. Spearfishing is only permitted between sunrise and sunset, and only in non-protected areas (Protected areas being mainly wrecks and known scuba diving sites).
2. It is strictly forbidden after sunset, even when using lights.
3. The use of scuba diving tanks for spearfishing always prohibited (as per all EU).
4. All fishers are required to respect minimum and maximum catch sizes established by law.
