This is a very rare piece of military memorabilia. From regimental historical records, the cap/collar badges seem to have been manufactured before the IV Battalion actually got permission to use it. It appears that they eventually did not receive the authorization to wear the badges although some examples were seen on uniforms of the IV Battalion during WWI. Manufactured around 1911 by J. R. Gaunt of London, these badges are very difficult to come by and sought after by serious collectors. The Wellington Regiment saw action in the major theatres of WWI such as Ypres, the Somme, Passchendaele, and Gallipoli, amongst others, suffering heavy losses. Serious buyers only, please.
