Community & Integration Officer

An opportunity has opened for a one year full-time Community & Integration officer within the SAHHA project financed by the Gasan Foundation, Iniala Foundation and the Social Impact Awards.
The role of the Community & Integration Officer is to act as a liaison between the migrant communities and the SAHHA project.
? Engaging and recruiting women for the food truck project, in liaison with the cultural mediators,
? Serve as a point of reference and assistance to migrant women; provide and share guidelines; monitor and track their achievements and commitment; evaluation of migrant women’s involvement and their role in the food truck project
? Develop evaluation mechanism for Sahha participants monitoring their progress and integration;
? Promoting migrant women engagement with the community and other entities both in Malta and abroad;
? Managing cultural mediators including the recruitment of such cultural mediators and strategic outreach of all migrant women in different communities in Malta;
? Liaising with stakeholders in the setting up of meetings and activities to promote integration and multicultural approaches for migrant women and food;
? Managing roster of women including number of hours worked, assist women in obtaining VAT & self employment licence;
? Solve any problems arising between project staff & women through mediation and dialogue; interpreting when required for project staff.
? Updating and reporting about the development of migrant women through monthly reports;
? Assisting in managing food handling course, including recruiting interpreters and mediators for women during food handling courses organised by respective entities;
? General community and integration assistance according to the needs of the project.
Candidates should possess experience working with women migrant communities and be fluent in Arabic and English.
Qualifications
? First-level university degree in social science recognised in Malta with minimum MQF Level 6;
? At least five years of relevant professional experience in an international environment; experience in North Africa, Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa highly desirable.
? Experience working in a government, international organization or NGO, including at least three years (full-time equivalent) on migrant women and gender based issues;
? Demonstrated experience in liaising with migrant communities, particularly vulnerable women;
? Knowledge and/or work experience in a field operation of an international organization, is an asset.
? Previous experience working on migrant cooking projects is necessary;
? Ability to work independently or under minimal supervision;
? Political intuition, cultural sensitivity, strong organizational and analytical skills;
? Strong presentation and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with high-level officials on migration/human dimension issues;
? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
? Gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
? Professional fluency in the English language, with excellent oral and written skills; fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position. Experience with translation and interpretation from Arabic to English required for this position.
