Junior Architect

KBA STUDIO manages a large property portfolio and is seeking to recruit a full-time Junior Architect and Civil Engineer to complement the existing property management team.
The chosen candidate will primarily be required to assess, develop, manage and supervise construction and development related projects and carry out day to day operations related to both major and minor development works. Such developments cover the whole spectrum of the various Project Work Stages (project life cycle) – i.e. inception & feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design, tendering process, mobilisation, site work and project closure.
Knowledge & skills

• Have strong architectural and interior design skills;
• Able to prepare bills of quantities, estimates and budgets;
• Preferably in possession of the local warrant to practice as a Perit;
• Be pro-active and work on own initiative;
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work as a team;
• Have a minimum of two years experience in the construction industry.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Measure and prepare surveys of properties;
• Prepare layouts and 2D images for development and marketing purposes;
• Prepare concept design and prepare feasibility reports;
• Develop preliminary design and prepare detailed design as necessary;
• Prepare structural design and construction drawings;
• Prepare take-offs, Bill of quantities, draw up contracts (full tendering process);
• Carry out ‘condition reports’ of property;
• Carry out site inspections and ensure quality assurance on site;
• Measure out and certify the works;
• Lead the projects and liaise with the project team members;
• Lead and co-ordinate construction and installation works on site;
• Monitor progress and ensure that construction and development activities progress
according to a predetermined schedule;
• Liaise with project stake holders (local council, OHSA, BRO, PA, utility entities, etc.) as
necessary;
• Take roles of PSDS and PSCS;
• Prepare progress reports for review by the Project Manager and the Directors.

Qualifications

• Be proficient in Maltese and English;
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
• Able to work with ACAD and 3D modelling applications;
• Undergraduate university degree in architecture and civil engineering;
