Quality Engineer - Materials & Tools

Carlo Gavazzi Ltd. has an opening for a Quality Engineer, focusing on Tools & Materials. The task requires coordination of all quality assurance and control activities with regards to materials, whilst ensuring that the quality standards set by the company are met, including the management of moulds and tools working at third party premises producing custom-made parts.

Primary Responsibilities include:
- To coordinate internal corrective actions/investigations relating to material and part
quality.
- To identify areas of improvement in quality assurance and/or material quality and
recommend/implement actions.
- Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles
by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in tool and mould designs.
- To coordinate any modifications of metal and plastic parts that are custom produced for
us.
- To build good relationships with suppliers to improve cooperation and understanding of
our requirements.
- To issue and follow up on actions with suppliers re. Material Nonconformities (Supplier
Failure Analysis Request and Supplier Reject Reports) where a Technical expertise is
required.
- To establish incoming inspection criteria.
- To support Logistics, Purchasing and R&D Departments in the procurement of tools and
materials.

Skills:

- This position is a highly active role, thus excellent teamwork and relationship
management skills are essential.
- Hands-on approach to work.
- Good planning and organisational skills coupled with a drive for continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

- Degree in Engineering, preferably with knowledge in materials and tools.
- Experience in Moulds/Tools and the design, creation and validation of custom mechanical
parts will be considered an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing/process environment.
