Purchase and Administration Team Lead

Michael Debono Limited is seeking to recruit a Purchase and Administration Team Lead to further strengthen its aftersales team within the Parts Department.

Companies whose primary aim is to achieve business growth through innovation. Debono Group is also well renowned in the market for Storage Systems Limited, a one-stop shop for shelving and storage solutions in Malta and internationally.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead the purchasing team. This involves the management of stock, negotiating on and managing the purchase (both local & import) costs of stock and managing supplier relationships and service levels.
Monitor stock levels to strike a balance between having sufficient stock available whilst not tying up capital unnecessarily in slow moving stock.
Areas of Responsibility
• To manage, maintain and analyse stock levels and orders, review and improve processes and systems to help the business save money and increase profits, while strengthening levels of customer satisfaction.
• Manage and monitor performance, leading and motivating the purchasing team to increase productivity and increase efficiency.
• Report on operational figures that include lost sales, purchasing trends, parts discarded, end of month and stock holding figures. The information presented is used for the purposes of data analysis, process improvement, and performance monitoring and forward planning.
• In conjunction with the Parts Manager, sets RRP (recommended retail price) for stock.
• Maintains a control of stock movement promoting “special offers” where appropriate to sell otherwise obsolete stock.
• Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality, ensuring customer requirements are met in an efficient and timely manner.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
• 3 years + purchasing management experience.
• An understanding of the principles and practices of logistics.
• A keen eye for detail and good administrative skills.
• A good general education that includes a reasonable standard of English and numerical skills.
• Appreciation of Microsoft Office.
• Able to execute purchasing strategies.
• The ability to negotiate on purchasing and delivery matters.
• The ability to manage a team and handle people management situations.
• Commercial acumen.
• Able to work seamlessly as an integral member of the management team.
• Customer service skills.
• Analytical skills.
• Financial appreciation.
