ICI Limited is seeking a reliable and physically capable Health & Safety Operative to support our Health & Safety Team across our construction sites.
This is a hands-on, site-based position combining general labour duties with practical Health & Safety support. The successful candidate will work closely with the Health & Safety Team to assist with the implementation of safety measures and the correction of identified hazards across our sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Health & Safety Operative will assist with duties including:
- Supporting the Health & Safety Team with day-to-day site safety requirements;
- Installing, moving and removing guard rails, barriers and other physical safety measures as instructed;
- Assisting with the installation of safety signage, restricted-access areas and temporary safety controls;
- Carrying, moving and positioning materials and equipment required for Health & Safety purposes;
- Assisting in correcting hazards identified during site inspections;
- Supporting improvements to site access routes, working areas and general site safety;
- Assisting with site housekeeping where required to remove or reduce Health & Safety risks;
- Helping ensure walkways, access points and emergency routes remain clear and safe;
- Assisting with the distribution and movement of PPE and safety equipment;
- Reporting unsafe conditions, damaged safety equipment or other hazards to the Health & Safety Team;
- Following instructions given by Health & Safety personnel and site management;
- Using tools and equipment appropriately and in accordance with company safety requirements; and
- Carrying out other general labour and site-support duties connected with Health & Safety requirements.
Qualifications
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
- Be physically fit and capable of carrying out demanding manual work and heavy lifting;
- Be comfortable working in an active construction-site environment;
- Be willing and able to install and move items such as guard rails, barriers and safety equipment;
- Have a practical and hands-on approach to work;
- Be reliable, punctual and able to follow instructions;
- Have a strong awareness of workplace safety and the importance of following Health & Safety procedures;
- Be willing to work outdoors and across different construction sites;
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
- Use company-provided PPE correctly at all times; and
- Immediately report any unsafe condition or situation that cannot be corrected safely.
Previous experience in construction, general labour, scaffolding, site works or a similar practical role will be considered an asset.
Previous Health & Safety experience is beneficial but not essential, as the role is primarily intended to provide practical and physical support to the Health & Safety Team.

The role involves regular manual handling, lifting, carrying, moving and installing safety equipment and materials around construction sites. Candidates must therefore be comfortable undertaking physical labour as an essential part of their normal duties.
Training and instructions relating to the Company's Health & Safety requirements will be provided.
