Junior Interior Design Assistant

Vella & Pace Limited is looking for a Junior Interior Design Assistant to support the company with residential and commercial property projects.

The role would suit someone with an interest or background in interior design who is organised, creative and willing to learn.

Main Duties
Assist with interior design ideas and basic layouts.
Help prepare mood boards, colour schemes and design presentations.
Assist with choosing furniture, lighting, flooring, finishes and materials.
Prepare or update simple drawings and design plans.
Assist with basic 2D and 3D designs where required.
Liaise with the company’s architect regarding plans and project requirements.
Communicate with suppliers, contractors and members of staff.
Request quotations and follow up on materials and deliveries.
Help keep project files, drawings and supplier information organised.
Attend project sites when required.
Assist with checking project progress and completed works.
Help ensure that finishes and materials are in line with the agreed design.
Support management and the architect with day-to-day project coordination.
Assist with general design-related duties as required.

Qualifications

Requirements
Training or experience in Interior Design, Graphic Design, Design, Architecture or a related field.
Basic knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop or similar would be considered an advantage.
Good creative and organisational skills.
Good attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to communicate with architects, contractors, suppliers and other staff.
Language Requirements
Good spoken and written English is required.
Good spoken Sinhala is required to communicate efficiently with Sinhala-speaking members of staff involved in company projects.

Previous extensive experience is not essential, as training and guidance will be provided. The ideal candidate should have an interest in interior design, be willing to learn and be comfortable assisting with projects from the planning stage through to completion.
