Private Chef / Cook in a private residence

Experienced chef to work in a private residence.

This position calls for a skilled chef who would like to work in a private household. Main duties include: creating weekly menus, planning for and doing the shopping; prepare daily meals for 2 people. Candidates with an understanding of healthy food and creativity will be given preference.



Requirements:

Min 3 years experience as a chef (a recommendation letter from the last employer is highly welcomed)
Genuine passion for cooking and food
Interest in international cuisines
Ability to cook diverse dishes (from salads and soups to crudo, meat, fish, and vegan, including snacks, pasta, pizza, bread(s), and desserts too)
Ability to prepare creative meals
Create different weekly menus for 2 ppl, according to dietary guidelines (please note that you won’t be cooking the same dishes every day, like in a restaurant. You will need to come up with recipes and ideas.)
Understanding of healthy food; portion sizes, and calories (nutrition knowledge is a plus)
Ability to notice food likes/ dislikes, favorites, and preferences
Exceptional hygiene standards (both personal and for the workplace)
Strong work ethics
Strong organizational and planning skills; time management
Attention to detail
Proactive and initiative
Valid permit to reside and work in Malta
Proficient in English
Clean police conduct
Ideally owns a car


Other notes:

Indefinite full-time contract

The ideal candidate should have experience as a chef, in private and in the hospitality sector total minimum of 3 years. Friendly, positive personality is imperative to the role;

CAN DO attitude; keep consistency with meals taste and quality; plan and do grocery shopping; maintain fridge, freezer, pantry and kitchen cabinets well organized and clean; throw away waste, clean floor around the work area; is well familiar with local food suppliers and able to select high-quality ingredients; precision when calculating amounts of groceries needed per week is essential as the household is making an effort to live in an environmental-friendly manner so that little to no waste occurs of whole fresh produce just because it was purchased in excess; The person should genuinely enjoy cooking.

Flexibility re working hours would be appreciated; on the other hand, the employer is a frequent traveler which naturally would amount to extra days of paid leave for the employee throughout the year.
