Brilliant 2 euro commemorative coin of Malta 2017 uncirculated . The coin is dedicated to the Temples of Hagar Qim. Ħaġar Qim (Standing/Worshipping Stones) is a megalithic temple complex found on the Mediterranean island of Malta, dating from the Ġgantija phase (3600-3200 BC). The Megalithic Temples of Malta are among the most ancient religious sites on Earth, described by the World Heritage Sites committee as "unique architectural masterpieces." In 1992 UNESCO recognized Ħaġar Qim and four other Maltese megalithic structures as World Heritage Sites.
The coin depicts an image of the Temples of Hagar Qim. Above, in three horizontal lines, is the legend "HAGAR QIM TEMPLES 3,600 - 3,200 BC" (and below, in two horizontal lines, the issuing country "MALTA" and the year of issue "2017". The initials "NGB" of the designer appear on the right and on the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of the EU flag.
