The following text deals with most of the aspects of selling or buying on MaltaPark. If you are new to auctions on MaltaPark we recommend you read the text below.

Introduction to online auctioning

Online auctioning is very similar to real-life auctioning. People put up items for sale by creating an auction. In the process an initial price for the item is set. Users can subsequently bid for the item by bidding an amount greater than the current bid. When the auction closes, the user who has recorded the highest bid will be able to purchase the item from the seller.

The seller also has the facility to declare a "Reserve Price" for the item he is selling. This is the minimum acceptable price for which the seller will sell the item he is auctioning. If at the time the auction closes, no bidder will have exceeded the "Reserve Price" for the item, the seller will have the option not to sell the item. The "Reserve Price" can at no time be viewed by bidding users, however he will be informed whether the "Reserve Price" has been met or not.

At the end of the auction, the winning bidder and the seller will be emailed each other's particulars so that the deal can be concluded.
